For people tired of career coaches, never ending content, paid courses & BS, here is a simple 5 page guide to landing your dream job. 5 pages – that’s all Career Brander has to offer, but I’m sure each of these guides will empower you to stand out from the crowd and slay your next job application!
Disclaimer: Reading this guide will not get you a job. Neither does joining an overpriced coaching course. Nothing can help you except for your relentless dedication and hard-work. What this guide really gives you is an overview of the “what to dos” & “how to dos”. It’ll equip you with information & knowledge you need to cross that finish line.
Do not forget to bookmark the guide & share to your friends – spread the love!
Before we begin, I have a humble request for you. Please stay with me till the end of all 6 guides – it’ll take a couple of hours at max. It can get boring and eye-opening at times, please stay with me regardless. In the end, I’m sure it’ll be worth your time.
If not, please let me know what to add/change in the comments, and I will take your recommendation with full seriousness & work on it to benefit the next reader. With the hope that you’ll stay with this guide till the last chapter, let’s begin!
You can now proceed to chapter 1 (recommended option) or choose to read my boring story below (it’s a bit long). Your call!
It’s nothing fascinating, rather depressing. As a normal human being, after losing someone who groomed you, someone you looked up to & loved dearly, I was in sort of an existential crisis – wondering what’s important & what the heck I’m doing with my life!
Needing a change from my current atmosphere and on the search for what to do next in life, on the search for a new job – I got tired of confusing content on something as simple as resumes & interview preparation. I felt a lack of availability of quality resources for career guidance.
Be it for job applications or college admissions, it felt illegal to see coaches charging a hefty price for selling fancy courses & hours of never ending content with no real focus or direction. The usual assumption is that more the length of training content, the better it is, the “costly” it is. But who in the right mind would want to spend 1000s from their pockets to watch 20 hours of career coaching videos! Or listen to 300 hours of career podcasts!
And so came my motivation to build something that’s crisp, free & truly useful to people.
Building something of value to others seemed to be a good way to kill my thoughts & give back at the time. And thus came this guide you are reading. Career Brander has now been through multiple reviews and iterations, but it started as a simple solve for a problem I encountered – a lack of concise, high quality & relatable content on career guidance.
Through 6 concise yet comprehensive guides, Career Brander will take you through pretty much all the tips you would find elsewhere (trust me, I purchased & went through a lot of career coaching courses while putting this website together)
This is not a “be all, end all” guide to landing jobs. In fact, It’s the exact opposite. It’s the bare minimum, but the super critical information that you must possess.
PS: I have nothing against career coaches, courses or podcasts. In fact, there are many coaches I truly respect and follow. What I hate is the cumbersome content that takes weeks or months to go through and overpriced courses – that’s what I wanted to solve for.
It states that 80% of your results come from 20% of the things you do. In other words, 80% of the things you do only leads to 20% of your results (talk about wasting time huh!)
Through Career Brander, my goal is to tell you the 20% information that will get you 80% of the results. Now I can talk about a lot more stuff – the remaining 80% – like networking, cross learning, this, that etc – but it’s not really critical.
Making a good resume, learning domain relevant skills, branding yourself and attending interviews well – that’s the crux of it.
Truly speaking, rest everything is “good to know”. Like how companies market their products or services, you have to market your skills & expertise correctly, that’s the important part.
My genuine recommendation – Read (and reread) all 6 pages, do everything mentioned & start applying for jobs (you’ll make it).
Content can only guide and take you so far, it’s upto you to make the rest of the journey.
Be confident, be true to yourself and work your ass off – you’ll make it!
Remember, you can’t fake it. You have to be good enough. But the best part is that skills can be built. Knowledge can be learned. It comes down to you putting your everything into getting the relevant skills & marketing it correctly to recruiters.
Gaining the knowledge is 99% in your hands, I can’t help there. If you want to be a developer, you need to know how to code – I can’t help there. If you wish to be a surgeon, you need to assist senior surgeons and learn how to do surgeries – I can’t help there.
The knowledge and skills vary job to job – and only YOU can do that part! I have limited ability to help you out in this regard…
But marketing yourself to recruiters is where I can add some value. If you are confident on your skills & knowledge, if you feel you really are a deserving candidate for that dream job of yours, this guide will prove useful to you.
Through the next 6 pages, this is what we will cover – how to brand and market yourself to recruiters.
I humbly request you to put up with me for the next 2 hours through this guide and I guarantee you it’ll be worth your time. If not, please let me know in the comments section what’s missing or what has to be changed, I’ll humbly do the same. Career Brander is my way of paying forward, my way of adding a little positive value to the lives of anyone I can!
Pro tip – If you really, really feel the need for career guidance, find an offline coach nearby. Someone you can actually sit down with, brainstorm, & learn from. Online courses & coaching can only take you so far, that’s the harsh reality.
To be honest, I don’t know. Maybe I am, Maybe I’m not.
But what I do know for sure is that I’m not trying to “coach” people and I don’t claim to be an expert (and I’m not taking anyone’s money either). All I’m doing is documenting the good things I come across in a corner of the internet called Career Brander (that too in just 6 pages).
In another world, I am an engineer, a corporate manager and an MBA graduate (you know how MBA grads are trained on placement preps – resumes and interview preparation becomes a life skill for us naturally). I’ve worked as a software developer, I’ve managed an NGO, worked as a procurement professional, have interviewed a lot of people across my career stints and attended a lot of interviews over the years.
And in the end, what did all these experiences made me do? A proud builder of this website!
I guess you don’t need qualifications to write from your heart, talk about your experiences and document your learnings and observations. And as for who I am, I’d like to stay anonymous for now!
Crisp & concise content – I hate, absolutely hate 10 or 20 hour tutorials and content that takes weeks to go through. Career Brander is crisp, precise and covers only what’s needed. It’s only 6 pages, yet highly comprehensive. You can finish reading in a couple of hours at max!
No paywalls & courses – I do not believe in charging money for what’s freely available online. Almost all information today is available for free in some corner of the internet – books, courses, forums, blogs, etc. And all that most courses do is to put this scattered content together in an organised way. Why charge money for that! And I have some very bitter experiences buying courses in the past! I once even bought a $200 marketing course that was pure s**t! (the fool I was!)
Write from heart – This guide is written from my heart. If my content is exactly the same as what ChatGPT gives, why should I even bother. Career Brander is unique because it’s written by a human, for humans – I understand the pain and frustration involved in cracking a job! I believe in the power of AI as a supporting tool, not as a final solution. It’s sad to see people copy-pasting AI content & passing it as their own content!
Finally, if you found this guide useful, how about sharing it to a friend who would benefit from the information? Let’s pay it forward and spread the love! Do bookmark for future references as well.
That’s enough about me and my musings. Now, it’s time to get serious & turn a new chapter in your life. It’s YOUR turn.
Let’s begin!
